Kala Varso for more than 2 years has been intensively working in the direction of revival of Kutch Folk Music. It is run by the artists themselves with the objective to make artisans active participants and take up initiatives in tackling the issues pertaining to their communities and villages rather than wait passively for external help to arrive.
It conducts Reyans (Folk music and knowledge sharing platform) regularly in the villages bringing together folk-musicians and villagers from all walk of life under a single platform. The Reyans, apart from playing out Folk music and explaining the cultural value and deep meaning of the traditional songs of Kabir, Meera, Sufi etc., provides a platform for the villagers to come together and discuss the issues facing them and chalk-out their own plan to resolve the issue.
